Killyleagh Show - New NISA Chairman
At the recent NISA Annual General Meeting Mr Billy Martin President of RUAS conducted the election of Officers. The outgoing chairman Ann Orr Show thanked the Executive Committee and show members who attended the the Annual General Meeting. Great to get a face to face meeting after so many zoom meetings, It is hoped that most of the shows in NI will run this year, Our shows will be running at risk as all shows have suffered a consequential loss over the past two years due to covid 19 lockdown. With so much dependence on voluntary help and rising costs the financial implications are serious and the Department of Agriculture has yet to make a concrete commitment to putting in place an immediate Bounce Back Scheme to assist all our shows. We are the only region in UK not supported financially by government yet we put on an amazing showcase for the industry each year with 99.9% voluntary help. However Ann said the show people are a breed apart and they will put their should to the wheel and make things happen when we get a breakthough with DAERA and a Bounce Back Scheme in place. The incoming Chairman is Mr Graham Furey Killyleagh Show said he looked forward to working with all the shows in 2022 and attending shows over the summer period. The vice chairman is Ms Karen Mark Limavady Show. Ms Rhonda Geary is the NISA Secretary/Treasurer with Ms Myrtle Peak as able administrator.
